Seedling
This piece is inspired by a Paul Barton technique, featuring a hollow form that showcases a vessel within a vessel. Turned from contrasting timbers of Jacaranda and Plum, it creates a subtle tension with the inner vessel appearing to emerge from within.
Crafted With Intention
My Artwork begins with a select piece of New Zealand-grown timber. Each piece of wood carries a story of its life before it came into my hands and I believe in honouring that story. Through pyrography, colour and mark making techniques, I seek to enhance the unique grain and character of each, allowing the timber to speak. Finding a balance between the raw material and the embellishment to celebrate both the beauty of nature and the creative process.
